     The best peace I have experienced in my life has been in the wild! The first hour before sunrise, while duck hunting the whole wild world is on the verge of waking up. The air is ice cold and still and the quantity of stars visible in the dark sky are overwhelming.

     A few hen mallards make greeting calls to each other waking up not too far away and then comes the sound of a splash in my decoys, a drake mallard has dropped in possibly looking for those hens. As the first light of the day begins to show on the horizon the whole marsh erupts from all but complete silence.  The volume has exploded as all manner of birds begin singing their songs and flying around to find the best places to socialize and feed!

     Its magnificent and beautiful, it is God’s creation. The Peace and seclusion that the wild offers are free to any of us! God gave it to us to steward and enjoy. It’s a place for clarity and humility which provides the perfect environment to hear His calling in our life. Jesus was never far from the wilderness and went into it regularly. John the Baptist lived his whole life and ministry in the wild. Having difficulty with clarity or stress? You need to go get yourself some Wild Peace!

Genesis 1:27-28 ESV

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
